SCOTS (School-College Opportunities to Succeed)
SCOTS Programme at Forth Valley College
The SCOTS proramme is available for S4 pupils when they start the senior phase of Bo'ness Academy. This course allows pupils to experience a taste of different subject areas at college.
These subject areas include;
- Business
- Construction
- Creative Industries
- Early Years & Childcare
- Engineering
- Hair & Beauty
- Health & Fitness
- Science
Pupils will attend College every Tuesday afternoon. Pupils are taken by bus to the college at 1pm and return to school again by bus at around 4.30pm.
In addition to the benefit of experiencing the different subjects at college, successful completion of the SCOTS programme provides pupils with an excellent stepping stone to a full time college application should they wish to follow this pathway.
Application Process
Places on the course are limited and pupils therefore must apply for the course. Details of this will be provided when pupils have their curriculum review meetings with their Pastoral Head or Pupil Support Teacher. Applications also include an interview.
Employability Award
In school, 3 periods a week, pupils will undertake the Employability Award (SCQF Level 3 or 4)
The Employability Award has 4 units:
Unit 1—Preparing for Employment
Unit 2—Building Your Employability Skills
Unit 3—Responsibilities of Employment
Unit 4—Dealing with Work Situations
