Skills Development Scotland is Scotland’s Careers Service. Skills Development Scotland offers careers advice, guidance and information to pupils in school, and to people of all ages in Scotland. Skills Development Scotland can offer free and impartial advice on education, training, careers and jobs.

You can get in touch with them during school time by calling in to the library.

 

 

 

You might meet them with your class at a group activity, especially during course choice periods.

 

Other ways –

 

Career Advisers will be in attendance at parents’ evening, parent seminars or other whole school career events

 

 

Support for School Leavers

 

Careers advice and support to access opportunities is also available from Skills Development Scotland for school leavers. SDS have a dedicated post school team to work with school leavers to help support them with their next steps. What does support in school look like?

S1

  • All PSE classes meet our Careers Adviser and receive an introductory lesson to Careers and the support available from SDS
  • Pupils register on My World of Work

 

S2

  • All PSE classes receive career management skills

 

S3

  • All PSE classes receive subject choice lesson
  • 1:1 Meeting prior to curriculum review meetings

 

Senior Phase

  • Group Work with S4
  • Self-referral 1:1 Meetings
  • 1:1 Meetings organised by Pastoral Head/Pupil Support Teachers
