Catherine MacPhail visits the school
Catherine MacPhail made a return visit
to Bo'ness this session. She was awarded the Royal Mail Prize 2006 for
the best teenage book with “Roxy’s Baby” on the 27th
November and she is rapidly becoming one of Scotland’s leading
writers for children and young adults. Catherine MacPhail never disappoints
her audience.
She talked about her new book “Nemesis” which
is the first in a series of four books. She also mentioned that
a girls’ equivalent to “Tribes” will be out in the
spring with the title “Worse than Boys”! She also
gave a graphic description of her daughter’s experience with
a terrible gang in Greenock which gave her the inspiration for her
first book “Run, Zan, Run”. Again, there was no lack
of questions from an attentive audience and judging by the comments
after the event, it had been a very successful session. “Blast
Off Books” in Linlithgow provided books for sale and Mrs MacPhail
was kept busy signing books for some time afterwards. This session
was partly funded by Live Literature Scotland, a funding scheme managed
by the Scottish Booktrust, which aims to take writers and storytellers
to all areas of Scotland.
