BP Lego Robolab

The Introduction

the presentation

here we are ready to go

Bo'ness Academy hosted the launch of BP's Lego Robolab project which was attended by teachers from the Academy, feeder primaries and officials from BP. Robolab Lego uses a programmable block called an RCX block which receives commands from the computer via an infra red link. Lego is used to create various objects such as cars, robots, cranes and trucks and the RCX block is then used to power it. Web cameras, light sensors and music can also be added to it to enhance it's capabilities.

BP have purchased 15 of these kits for use in the Academy or feeder primaries.

Let's Get Started - staff get to grips with the technology

Hopefully this will work       working out the moves       What does that say ?

I think we need to follow the instructions       Why is it not working       many hands make light work

The Final Outcome - have we succeeded?

Are you sure this will work?       Yes it really is working       Yes! We've cracked it !

The Academy's S3 Asdan class have been using Robolab Lego for several months now and recently entered a Falkirk Council ICT competition. The class was very successful and won a silver award which carried a prize of a new XBox 360 plus games for their efforts. Well done boys !
