2005 - 2006

Some of the Achievements from this session
Author Catherine Forde visited
the school |
Author, Keith
Gray visited the school and gave a talk to 60 pupils from
S1 and S2. The pupils had all been reading his novel, "Malarkey",
a story mainly set in a secondary school. Mr Gray talked about
the various factors which are important in the creation of a
good story and assured everyone present that it was not necessary
to be clever at school to become a good writer. Mr Gray was one
of the judges for the Pushkin
prize won by Cormac Murray, S1. Thanks to Blast Off Books
for arranging the visit and organising the book sale afterwards.

| Edinburgh University Sinfonia
conducted by Tom Butler visited the school and performed to music
students from S3 - S6. The visit was both enjoyable and educational
with 2 pupils being given the opportunity to conduct the orchestra.
One of the pupils who attended said afterwards "That was totally
amazing. Dead good". Thanks go to the Sinfonia for coming along
to the school.
