Health Accreditation
Bo'ness Academy has been accredited as a Health Promoting
School at Level 2
On Friday 28th March 2008 the school underwent it's
official Health Accreditation Visit. Representatives from Falkirk Council
interviewed staff, parents, partners, pupils and members of the management
team as well as visiting a number of classes to look at all aspects
of health and wellbeing within Bo'ness Academy.


They also had lunch in the Hub and visited some of the
numerous lunchtime clubs on offer to pupils
Feedback was given at the end of the day which acknowledged
the many health initiatives taking place within the school. The school
was particularly commended on it's excellent links with outside agencies
and for the work done on looking at staff health. Wide use of ICT and
technology was observed both in the classroom situation and as a means
of communication between school and parents. Pastoral Care was seen
to be effective with very good work with partners evidenced - e.g Social
Work, Community Police and Barnardo's. Staff / pupils activities were
seen to encourage positive relationships. There is an active Pupil Council
who are effective in promoting change. There is a proactive approach
to bullying with new initiatives being developed. The Eco Club is improving
confidence and giving a sense of pride in the school and the environment.
Whole school activities - health days, school shows etc. involve large
numbers of staff, pupils, parents and partners. The Open Door Policy
is appreciated by all. Good information is provided on alcohol and drugs.
The Academy was deemed to be a highly inclusive establishment
with an accessible Senior Management team.
