The Comenius Project

In August 2008 Bo’ness Academy started a Comenius project with Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic

Comenius is a project funded by the British Council, the title of which is European Friendship

During the first stage of the project pupils in S1 produced a Tourist Guide of our local area, powerpoints for the project about Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway, The Falkirk Wheel and one featuring Scottish Recipes plus leaflets of various tourist attractions, including Callendar House, Kinneil House and the Dunmore Pineapple

Trip to Italy In December 2008 two teachers from Bo'ness Academy went to Chieti in Italy on the first Comenius visit	Italian Earthquake Disaster Appeal Our Italian Comenius partner school is located in Abruzzo, the area which was devastated by an earthquake in April 2009. Staff and pupils decided they would like to raise money for the many people who had been affected. Pupils held a dress down day and Staff held a pizza / pasta lunch. Together they managed to raise £1000 which was presented to the Italian teachers during their visit to the Academy	Comenius group visit to Scotland Bo'ness Academy welcomed the Comenius group in May 2009

more photos	E-link Club / Option Class 2008 The e-link club and Option class visited areas of interest and took photographs for the tourist guide. They designed a Scottish logo for the project and created a full-size Scottish male and female in traditional clothing. They also made gifts to be exchanged with the partner schools. The pupils also invited staff to join them for a couple of European lunches where food was sampled from Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic and Scotland. As a reward for all their hard work the pupils were taken to the Christmas Market in Edinburgh	at the Christmas Market - more photos
